The iconic WCW star has come out of retirement to see if he can topple the most dangerous man in sports entertainment today. Raw and SmackDown's top superstars will also do battle in two traditional Survivor Series five-on-five elimination matches. Raw's men, led by WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens, will face SmackDown's men, headed by WWE World Champion AJ Styles. Meanwhile Raw's women, with WWE Raw Women's Champion Charlotte at the helm, will be tested by SmackDown's Nikki Bella and co. Raw's Brian Kendrick will defend the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against SmackDown's Kalisto, and Raw's Sami Zayn will challenge SmackDown's The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Here is a match-by-match breakdown of the show. Team SmackDown Heath Slater and Rhyno, The Hype Bros Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley , American Alpha Jason Jordan and Chad Gable , The Usos Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso , and Breezango Tyler Breeze and Fandango This colossal tag team contest should be an absolutely crazy spectacle, with 20 men involved when the opening bell rings. Raw's representatives will be led by the record-breaking Raw Tag Team Champions, The New Day, while SmackDown's squad is headed up by another fan favourite pairing, the blue brand's tag team title holders Heath Slater and Rhyno. Just keeping up with the action in this match will be no mean feat, especially when it inevitably degenerates into a free-for-all, mass brawl! As usual, the intrigue in these kind of matches is provided by the uneasy alliances The Usos and American Alpha on Team SmackDown, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson's hatred of everyone else on Team Raw and the unusual clashes when teams from opposing brands meet for the first time. Expect Enzo Amore and Big Cass to be given a chance to shine and American Alpha too, who will surely nail a succession of suplexes to get the Canadian fans on their feet. As for the eventual winners, it's of little consequence, so perhaps this one may go to Team SmackDown, to give the Tuesday night roster an early advantage. Predicted winners: Heath Slater and Rhyno and American Alpha Image: © WWE Singles match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Brian Kendrick c vs. Kalisto This match has been hastily thrown together, but is now of real interest because of the added stipulation that if Kalisto wins, the Cruiserweight Championship and the entire cruiserweight division will transfer to SmackDown. The cruiserweights have looked out of place on Raw, struggling to connect with seemingly disinterested fans, and the prematurely aborted title run of TJ Perkins the Cruiserweight Classic tournament winner in favour of the veteran Brian Kendrick, whose character was at least already established with fans, was a clear sign all was not well. Kendrick could be a great champion if given time. Yet with WWE announcing a new cruiserweights only show, 205 Live, airing immediately after SmackDown on the WWE Network, it would seem logical if the division were also to transfer to Tuesday nights, so the stars could also travel with the SmackDown crew. Kalisto is a steady hand and a performer WWE previously tried to push as a singles star with the United States Championship. Maybe he will get another opportunity to set that straight by capturing the gold this evening. Predicted winner: Kalisto Image: © WWE 5—on—5 traditional Survivor Series elimination match Team Raw Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Nia Jax, Alicia Fox, and Sasha Banks with Dana Brooke vs. Team SmackDown Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Naomi with Natalya Raw Women's Champion Charlotte will lead a unit against a SmackDown outfit, which is bizarrely led by Nikki Bella, instead of the SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch. Within her ranks Charlotte has two sworn enemies, Sasha Banks and Bayley, plus the feuding pair of Nia Jax and Alicia Fox. Nikki meanwhile has to keep under control her recent opponent Carmella, the aforementioned Lynch, and her championship contenders, Alexa Bliss and Naomi. Nia Jax is still being booked to look like an unstoppable beast and may well claim the scalp of Naomi, Bliss or Carmella early on. But her remaining opponents will surely team up to take her out and that will be when things get interesting. So far, friends Sasha Banks and Bayley have remained on good terms, despite their common goal of becoming Raw Women's Champion. That cannot last forever and tonight would be a good time to start sowing the seeds of a feud, building to next year's WrestleMania. A mix-up or moment of confusion involving this duo may be the catalyst for Team Raw being outsmarted by Becky Lynch, or likelier still Nikki Bella. Predicted winner s : Team SmackDown Image: © WWE Singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship The Miz c with Maryse vs. Sami Zayn Much like the Cruiserweight Championship match, this contest has the stipulation that if Sami Zayn is able to defeat The Miz for his newly reclaimed Intercontinental Championship, he will take the strap to Raw. Zayn will be a huge crowd favourite in his home country and many observers expect him to emerge victorious. But WWE likes to have superstars lose on home turf - just look at Sasha Banks at Hell in a Cell - so that is far from guaranteed. Dolph Ziggler dropping the title back to The Miz on SmackDown this past week, after an emotional rollercoaster of a match at No Mercy last month, was disappointing. Once again it feels like a missed opportunity as far as he is concerned. But WWE doesn't do things without a reason, and perhaps the purpose is as simple as not wanting two babyfaces clashing this evening. If the irritating Miz loses the gold to the underdog Zayn, whose momentum has been lost since his epic summer victory over Kevin Owens, the arena will erupt. Having both mid-card titles the IC and US belts on Raw makes little sense on the face of it, but that show is three hours long. Setting aside for one moment these futile attempts to understand the logic behind WWE booking, this should be a cracking match, as it features two men who rarely disappoint when it comes to storytelling. Predicted winner: Sami Zayn Image: © WWE 5—on—5 traditional Survivor Series elimination match Team Raw Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins vs. Team SmackDown AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, and Shane McMahon with James Ellsworth Since the brand split in July, there has been no question which of WWE's two flagship TV shows has been more entertaining to watch. SmackDown, aided by the fact it is a streamlined two-hour presentation and not a three-hour endurance test, has consistently delivered the right blend of in-ring action and backstage drama, with characters and storylines which feel fresh, and are free from the shackles of the seemingly never-ending Stephanie McMahon led sagas. Bearing that in mind, it would be surprising for WWE to admit, even in the fictional world of wrestling wins and losses, that it's secondary show has usurped its premier product. For that reason alone Kevin Owens and his charges are likely to best AJ Styles' odd bunch, which includes his rival Dean Ambrose, enemies turned friends Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton, and Stephanie's brother Shane McMahon. Why WWE has added Shane to this mix, when the emphasis in this new era is meant to be on the superstars rather than authority figures, is a good question. A face-off between the two siblings - say after Stephanie drags a referee out of the ring to prevent a pin - seems a certainty. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins' relationship with their former partner in The Shield, Dean Ambrose, will be of interest, as will the true nature of Orton and Wyatt's alliance, in the face of Wyatt's former henchman Braun Strowman. Strowman, much like Nia Jax, will not go down without a fight. Nevertheless, don't look much further than Reigns, who WWE insist on shoving down our throats, as the man who wins this for Raw. Predicted winner: Team Raw Image: © WWE Singles match Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman When this 'fantasy' match was first announced, primarily to promote Goldberg's inclusion in the new WWE 2K17 video game and his inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame, many fans shrugged their shoulders. After all, their last clash at WrestleMania 20 in 2004 was a colossal flop, an unmitigated disaster that saw a hostile New York crowd turn on both men as a result of it being common knowledge they were leaving the company. Added to that cynicism was the fact some are growing tired of Brock's glorified squash matches, in which he demolishes whoever is put in front of him, whether they be a new main event star or 12-time world champion. Following that muted reaction however, something changed. When Goldberg appeared in a WWE ring for the first time in 12 years on Raw in Denver, the crowd greeted the WCW legend like it was 1998 and he was still 173-0. His emotional response, resulting in one of the best promos of his career which was never his forte , ignited the feud. If anything, he is now more over than he was for the majority of his original WWE run, which failed to live up to expectations. On Raw this week, Lesnar also played his part, showing a vulnerability that suggests the ex-UFC star has finally found an opponent on his level. They will be anxious to set the record straight and deliver in this rematch, with the intrigue being just what Goldberg is capable of in the ring at the age of 49. It could be a classic or it could be the proverbial car crash, but either way it is a must-see main event. Can Goldberg turn back time and defeat Brock, after WWE has spent so long making The Beast appear utterly invincible? But what a result it would be if he did. Predicted winner: Brock Lesnar WWE Survivor Series is live on the WWE Network and Sky Sports Box Office at midnight on Sunday night.
